Description
Agilent 6465B Ultivo Triple Quad LC/MS with ESI Source Overview
Agilent 6465B Ultivo Triple Quad LC/MS with ESI Source represents a transformative approach to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry, delivering the fit-for-purpose, rugged LC/MS analysis expected from larger comparable systems at a fraction of their size. It’s a compact, stackable design that eliminates the separate MS footprint entirely by incorporating the mass spectrometer directly into the HPLC stack, maximizing lab bench space without compromising performance.
The system performs MS/MS using three sets of parallel rods (quadrupole, hexapole, quadrupole) — the first quadrupole selects precursor ions, which are fragmented in the hexapole into product ions and separated by the second quadrupole. Using Dynamic MRM, the Ultivo can monitor up to 4,000 MRM transitions in a single run.
This configuration is equipped with a standard Electrospray Ionization (ESI) source, a proven, versatile ionization technique well suited to a broad range of polar and moderately polar compounds across standard-flow LC-MS/MS workflows. Innovations built into the Ultivo include the Vortex Collision Cell for improved ion fragmentation and transmission (enabling more MRMs per second with greater accuracy and confidence), the Cyclone Ion Guide for smoother ion transmission between vacuum zones and better signal quality, and VacShield technology, which allows capillary changes without venting the system — reducing downtime and improving day-to-day lab efficiency. The system is compatible with 1260 Infinity II, 1260 Infinity Prime, or 1290 Infinity II LC stacks.
The Ultivo supports 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, making it well suited for regulated environments, and is used across food safety, environmental, drug discovery, toxicology, forensics, bioanalysis, protein quantitation, clinical, academic, pharmaceutical, and veterinary drug applications.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
What’s the difference between this ESI version and the Agilent Jet Stream (AJS) version?
Both use the same Ultivo G6465B platform, but AJS adds a heated sheath gas design that dramatically increases the number of ions entering the mass spectrometer, improving desolvation efficiency and sensitivity, particularly at higher flow rates. Standard ESI remains a proven, versatile choice for a wide range of standard-flow LC-MS/MS applications.
How many MRM transitions can this system monitor?
Up to 4,000 MRM transitions using Dynamic MRM.
What is VacShield technology?
VacShield allows capillary changes without venting the system, reducing downtime and improving lab efficiency.
What LC systems is this compatible with?
Agilent 1260 Infinity II, 1260 Infinity Prime, or 1290 Infinity II LC stacks.
Does this unit include a warranty?
Yes — this unit ships with a 90-day warranty.
