Agilent 6550 iFunnel Q-TOF LC/MS Overview

The Agilent 6550 iFunnel Q-TOF LC/MS is a high-resolution, accurate-mass mass spectrometer built around Agilent’s iFunnel ion-focusing technology. iFunnel combines Jet Stream thermal gradient focusing, a hexabore sampling capillary, and a dual-stage ion funnel to deliver femtogram-level detection sensitivity.

Ion Beam Compression and Shaping (IBCS) technology compresses and cools the ion beam up to 10-fold, delivering up to 42,000 FWHM resolution (m/z 2,722) alongside sub-1-ppm mass accuracy. This combination of resolution and sensitivity makes the 6550 ideal for confident compound identification in complex samples, and it is uncommon in a single benchtop system.

Acquisition speeds reach up to 50 spectra per second in both MS and MS/MS modes, supporting fast UHPLC separations and maximum sampling during data-dependent MS/MS experiments. In-spectrum dynamic range extends up to five orders of magnitude.
