Agilent 6546 LC/Q-TOF Overview
The Agilent 6546 LC/Q-TOF (G6546A) is a high-resolution, accurate-mass quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer for liquid chromatography workflows. It resolves ions to at least 30,000 FWHM across the mass range, rising above 60,000 at higher masses, independent of acquisition rate or intensity.
Mass accuracy typically stays better than 1 ppm with minimal drift over long sequences. The quadrupole isolates precursor ions across m/z 20 to 4,000, and the TOF analyzer records a mass range of m/z 20 to 10,000.
Acquisition speed ranges from 3 Hz in full-scan mode up to 30 Hz in targeted MS/MS and Q-RAI (Quadrupole Resolved All Ions) acquisition, without trading off resolution at higher speeds. In-spectrum dynamic range exceeds five orders of magnitude, and isotopic fidelity stays within 5%. Ionization uses a Dual AJS MultiMode source, combining ESI and APCI in a single source. A capillary gate-valve allows cleaning the capillary and accessing the ion source without venting the system, reducing instrument downtime during routine maintenance.
