Description

Agilent 8890 7250 GC Q-TOF Overview

The Agilent 8890 7250 GC Q-TOF is a high-resolution accurate-mass GC/MS system built around an 8890 gas chromatograph, a 7250 Q-TOF mass spectrometer and a Gerstel MPS Pro sampler with a CIS 4 programmable temperature vaporizing (PTV) inlet. The 7250 delivers resolution above 25,000 FWHM regardless of acquisition rate and mass accuracy under 2 ppm RMS, so unknown compounds can be assigned elemental formulas with confidence. A hexapole collision cell supports MS/MS up to 60 eV, and quadrupole isolation covers m/z 20 to 1,050. Electron ionization at 70 eV gives library-searchable spectra, while low-energy EI and chemical ionization keep the molecular ion intact for compounds that fragment too heavily.

The Gerstel side of the Agilent 8890 7250 GC Q-TOF is what makes long sequences practical. The CIS 4 inlet ramps from -150 to 450 °C and supports split, splitless and solvent vent injection. ALEX swaps the inlet liner automatically at set sequence intervals, and the SID barcode reader tracks each vial through the run. The MPS Pro holds three racks, a three-position tool changer and a heated agitator that goes to 150 °C, and one Gerstel controller runs the inlet, sampler and peripherals from a single method. Together this lets the system run unattended with fewer manual liner changes.

Laboratories doing metabolomics, pesticide screening in food and environmental matrices, and non-target compound identification use the Agilent 8890 7250 GC Q-TOF when a nominal-mass quadrupole cannot separate co-eluting ions.

This Agilent 8890 GC/7250 Q-TOF with Gerstel MPS is offered fully refurbished and tested by Alliant Scientific.
