Agilent 8890 GC PAL RSI 120 Overview
The Agilent 8890 GC PAL RSI 120 system pairs an 8890 gas chromatograph with two split/splitless (SSL) inlets and two flame ionization detectors (FID) with a PAL RSI 120 robotic autosampler. Two inlet-to-detector channels mean two columns can run in parallel: either two different methods, or one sample injected on two columns of different polarity to confirm peak identity. Each FID detects below 1.0 pg C/s and acquires data at up to 1,000 Hz. The oven reaches 450 °C with up to 32 ramps, so one program can cover a wide boiling range.
The PAL RSI 120 handles the sample side of the Agilent 8890 GC PAL RSI 120 system. It is a gantry-style robotic sampler, not a fixed tower, so it moves vials between the tray, the cool stack and the wash station before each injection. The cool stack keeps samples in drawers at the instrument, the wash station rinses the syringe between samples, and the tray holder takes the vial trays. With a capacity of up to 120 vials, a full sequence runs unattended. A handheld controller sets up the sampler at the instrument.
