Agilent 8890 GC-FID System Overview
The Agilent 8890 GC-FID System is configured with one split/splitless (SSL) inlet and one flame ionization detector (FID), supplied with a PC and data system. A single inlet-to-detector path keeps method setup simple, which suits laboratories that run one validated GC-FID method and want fewer parts to maintain. The FID detects below 1.0 pg C/s and acquires data at up to 1,000 Hz, so narrow peaks are defined cleanly. The SSL inlet supports split ratios up to 13,500:1 and temperatures up to 400 °C, covering both concentrated and trace samples.
The 8890 oven reaches 450 °C and accepts up to 32 ramps, which lets one method handle a wide boiling range from light solvents to heavy hydrocarbons. Electronic pneumatics control (EPC) holds carrier and detector flows steady, and a 7-inch touchscreen shows status and method details at the instrument. The Agilent 8890 GC-FID System connects over LAN, so it can sit on the laboratory network and be monitored remotely. It is sold without an autosampler. To automate injections, add a 7693 G4513A tower and G4514A tray.
