Agilent 7890B GC FID System Overview
The Agilent 7890B GC FID System is a gas chromatograph built around a split/splitless (SSL) inlet and a flame ionization detector (FID). The inlet vaporizes the sample and splits or transfers it onto the column, the programmable oven separates the compounds by boiling point and polarity, and the FID burns each eluting compound in a hydrogen flame and measures the ions produced. Electronic pneumatics control (EPC) regulates carrier and detector gases for repeatable retention times and peak areas. The FID responds to hydrocarbons and most organic compounds, which makes this configuration a dependable workhorse for routine quantitation.
Environmental, petrochemical and refinery, chemical manufacturing, food and flavor, and pharmaceutical laboratories use the Agilent 7890B GC FID System for hydrocarbon analysis, residual solvents, fragrance and flavor profiling, and quality control testing. It is a good base system that you can expand later with extra inlets, detectors or an autosampler.
