Description

Agilent 7890A GC with ECD & 7693 Autosampler Overview

Agilent 7890A GC with ECD & 7693 Autosampler is a GC system configured with a Split/Splitless (SSL) inlet, G2397A Micro-Electron Capture Detector (ECD), and 7693 Series Autosampler for automated detection of halogenated and other electron-capturing compounds.

The ECD uses a sealed 15 mCi Nickel-63 source to generate a steady electron stream. As electron-capturing compounds pass through the detector cell, they absorb electrons in proportion to their concentration, producing a signal used to detect and quantify organochlorine pesticides, PCBs, and similar halogenated analytes at trace levels.

The 7693 Autosampler automates liquid sample injection, with injection speeds under 100 milliseconds and response factor variation under 5% RSD. The 150-vial tray supports extended, unattended sample runs.

This Agilent 7890A GC with ECD & 7693 Autosampler is offered fully refurbished and tested, in working condition, by Alliant Scientific.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How fast does the 7693 Autosampler inject?

Under 100 milliseconds, with response factor variation under 5% RSD.

What is sandwich injection?

It allows internal standard or solvent to be loaded directly into the syringe prior to injection, rather than as a separate manual step.

How many vials does the 7693 Autosampler hold?

Up to 150 vials using the tray.

Why does internal standard matter for PCB analysis specifically?

EPA Method 8082 recommends using decachlorobiphenyl as an internal standard for congener-specific PCB analysis, added to each sample extract and calibration standard to verify extraction recovery.

What does this system detect?

The G2397A Electron Capture Detector (ECD) detects halogenated compounds like organochlorine pesticides and PCBs. See our standalone 7890A GC with ECD listing for more detail on EPA method compatibility and detection limits.
