Agilent 6890N GC with 7694 Headspace Sampler Overview

This system pairs an Agilent 6890N gas chromatograph with an Agilent 7694 Headspace Sampler for automated analysis of volatile compounds in liquid and solid samples. The GC is configured with one split/splitless (S/SL) inlet.

The 7694 Headspace Sampler runs up to 44 samples in sequence without operator attention. Its vial oven holds six 10 mL or 20 mL vials and heats from 40 to 200 °C. The valve and loop zone is set from 50 to 200 °C, and sample moves to the GC through a heated transfer line. Up to four methods can be stored on the sampler.

Headspace sampling introduces only the vapor above the sample, which keeps non-volatile matrix out of the inlet and column. This configuration suits residual solvent, blood alcohol, and volatile organic analysis.
