CDS Analytical 8500C Purge & Trap Concentrator
The CDS 8500C supports purge & trap workflows commonly used in environmental laboratories performing EPA‑aligned VOC and SVOC analyses.
- EPA Method 524 (VOC in drinking water)
- EPA Method 624 (VOC in wastewater)
- EPA Method 8260 (VOC/SVOC by GC/MS)
Description
The CDS 8500C Purge and Trap Concentrator delivers advanced VOC sample preparation for water and soil analysis using automated GC/MS workflows. Building on the proven reliability of the CDS 7000 series, the 8500C adds plug-and-play integration with the CDS 8500A Autosampler for improved laboratory automation and workflow efficiency.
The 8500C features an integrated foam sensor, inert-coated wet trap, and advanced 8-port pneumatic system designed to maximize analytical performance, system reliability, and chromatographic resolution across demanding environmental testing applications.
CDS analytical instruments are designed around a few core concepts including EPA regulation compliance to EPA 8260, 524, 624 methods, reliability, expandability, dependability and competitive pricing. It has been acknowledged as the industry workhorse for decades. To further unleash the full power of your GC systems, we designed a full suite of products including standalone autosamplers (8500 series) and an industry first Purge and Trap tool for the popular CTC PAL systems.
Available from Alliant Scientific, an authorized CDS Analytical distributor, supplying the CDS Analytical 8500C Purge & Trap Concentrator with full support for system configuration, installation.
Advanced Purge & Trap Performance
The 8500C offers 0–999.9 minutes of programmable timing, enabling precise control over purge, dry purge, desorb, and bake cycles. This flexibility supports a wide range of sample matrices and method requirements.
High‑Temperature Desorption & Heated Pathway
The system features:
- Desorption trap temperature up to 425°C
- Wet trap temperature up to 425°C
- Valve oven up to 350°C
- Heated transfer line up to 350°C
These high‑temperature capabilities ensure complete analyte recovery and minimize carryover.
Optimized Sample Pathway
A 1.5 m stainless‑steel‑clad fused silica transfer line in a flexible heated jacket ensures stable, inert analyte transfer to the GC inlet.
Vocarb Adsorbent Trap
The Type K Vocarb trap provides excellent retention and release characteristics for a broad range of VOCs and SVOCs, making the 8500C suitable for environmental and industrial applications.
