Applikon ez-Control P100e Bioreactor System Overview
The Applikon ez-Control P100e Bioreactor System (P1000723/48) pairs an ez-Control bio controller with a jacketed glass bioreactor vessel for microbial fermentation and cell culture. The controller measures and controls pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, foam/level, and agitation from a color touch screen.
Adaptive PID control keeps process parameters on setpoint without manual tuning. Control loops are user-definable, and process configurations can be stored, copied, and reloaded to shorten setup time. The controller stores and displays up to 72 hours of data locally, with synoptic, trending, and bargraph views, and multiple user levels secure access to the process. The P100e is Applikon’s standard stirrer motor for 2 and 3 liter bioreactors with low viscous media, with speeds up to 1,250 rpm. The ez-Control regulates agitation through this motor as part of the process control loop.
The ez-Control works with classic and fluorofor pH and oxygen sensors, and it can integrate a viable biomass sensor. OPC compliance and Ethernet and USB ports connect it to a computer network for process data handling. The front panel has two gas rotameters, three built-in pumps for liquid additions such as acid, base, and antifoam, and an emergency stop. Water hoses connect the vessel’s jacket to the controller for temperature control.
