Agilent 8890 GC/7250 Q-TOF with Gerstel MPS Overview
This system combines an Agilent 8890 GC and 7250 Q-TOF with a Gerstel Multipurpose Sampler (MPS), CIS 4 programmable temperature vaporizing inlet, and Automated Liner Exchange (ALEX) for automated, high-resolution accurate-mass GC/MS analysis.
The 7250 Q-TOF provides mass resolution greater than 25,000 FWHM and mass accuracy better than 2 ppm RMS. Quadrupole precursor isolation covers m/z 20 to 1,050, with a recordable TOF mass range up to m/z 3,000. The MSD includes both conventional 70 eV electron ionization and low energy EI, settable from 5 to 200 eV, along with a chemical ionization (CI) source for complementary ionization techniques. A hexapole collision cell using a helium/nitrogen gas mix supports MS/MS fragmentation up to 60 eV collision energy.
The Gerstel MPS Pro handles automated sample introduction, holding up to three sample racks (54 x 1.5 mL vials or 15 x 20 mL vials) with a 3-position tool changer. A heated agitator (up to 750 rpm, 150°C) supports on-line sample preparation. The ALEX option automates CIS 4 liner exchange at defined intervals within a sequence, and the SID option adds barcode reading for automated vial and tube tracking during sample prep. Together, these components make the Agilent 8890 GC/7250 Q-TOF with Gerstel MPS a fully automated platform for unattended, high-resolution sample analysis.
