Dionex ESA Corona Ultra CAD Charged Aerosol Detector Overview
Charged aerosol detection is a non-optical HPLC detection technology derived from proven particle characterization techniques. Because the entire process involves particles and direct measurement of charge, the Corona CAD detector delivers response independent of chemical structure — a key advantage over UV detection, which depends on chromophores, and over mass spec, where ionization efficiency varies widely between compounds.
The Corona Ultra adds reduced peak dispersion and a 100 Hz acquisition rate over the standard Corona CAD, delivering the speed and resolution needed for UHPLC-paced analysis of any non-volatile or semi-volatile analyte, with or without a chromophore. It’s fully gradient compatible and works with standard HPLC or UHPLC systems with no modifications necessary.
With detection down to low nanogram levels and a dynamic range spanning over four orders of magnitude, the Corona Ultra CAD is well suited as a primary detector or as a complement to UV or mass spectrometric detection.
