Agilent 6890N GC with FID & G1888 Network Headspace Overview
This system pairs the Agilent 6890N GC with a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and a G1888 Network Headspace Sampler, enabling automatic introduction of volatile compounds from virtually any sample matrix directly into the GC. Electronic pneumatic control (EPC) automatically compensates for ambient temperature and barometric pressure changes, supporting accurate, reproducible results run after run.
The G1888 features a 70-position sample tray with 12-position heating oven capacity, supporting unattended overnight operation for high-throughput labs. Its inert sample pathway minimizes analyte degradation, and it supports multiple headspace extraction (MHE) modes, including multi-puncture extraction and concentration mode for demanding sample matrices. The sampler switches between built-in manual pneumatics and the GC’s own electronic pneumatic control, and can be run from its front keypad or through Agilent’s data system.
The split/splitless (SSL) inlet and FID detector combination is well suited for routine hydrocarbon and volatile organic compound analysis, especially where headspace sampling is needed for matrices that are difficult to inject directly.
